Obviously once wasn’t enough, so Telephone Explosion has summoned a repressing of the Ty Segall/Black Time split LP. With Segall on the A-side as gritty and abrasive as his S/T days and the noise-pop hooks from UK’s Black Time on the flip. 13 tracks between the two in limited form only pressed onto 500 copies. The first ed. flew off shelves in no time and I expect this trend to hold.

Ty Segall video for “Finger”–not sure if this is official or not, though certainly one of the best records this year.

Secret Seven Records is prepped to a release a new compilation on the eve March that encompasses the vast range of sound coming out of the San Francisco area. The compilation titled In A Cloud: New Sounds From San Francisco and includes new tracks from Thee Oh Sees, The Fresh & Onlys, Ty Segall, Tim Cohen, Sonny & The Sunsets, The Sandwitches, Hannah & Raven (of Grass Widow) and tons more. Im stoked about hearing anything new from Ty Segall so I present this to you via the wonderful Secret Seven Records; “Hey Big Mouth” is the song and its a roarin’ raucous punk tribute, hard hitting and as snotty as the Dead Boys. You can pre-order the LP here.

Now outside of our “usual” hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a “prime” slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST. According to the meterologist, it’s balls cold today so we’ve slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters). This week’s effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next. It’s been a busy week with moving, work, and some SXSW planning but (teaser) we’ve got some good/big news coming your way real soon. Click HERE and follow the links to tune in.

From the west coast, out-house rock veterans Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin have released their new record Reverse Shark Attack through Kill Shaman that should tide us over until that (maybe?) new Sic Alps record next year. Dare-I-say the music dragging, cocky rock n’ roll not made for the faint of heart with a pissed, sludgy inaugural track titled “I Wear Black”. Ty Segall has become the curator of all that lo-fi and picks up where Johnny Ramone left off in the best way possible. The LP is up for sale on the Kill Shaman website and as always, take the track below for a test run.

It seems these days the Sic Alps can do no wrong, and this new 7″ LP entitled L. Mansion contains one new song and one cover of the (underrated) Donovan song “Superlungs My Supergirl”. You can order this beautiful pink vinyl from the great vinyl masters at Slumberland. Its hard to imagine that this is their first record in a year, but they haven’t lost their touch for soulful noise-laden garage rock. Currently Sic Alps are prepping to embark on a tour with Sonic Youth and then off to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland and Wales are all to be included.

So I’ll go ahead and apologize for the shit quality of the “Obliteration” tune: SORRY! It’s pretty grimy as is, so it shouldn’t make TOO much of a difference. On to the tunes. Tic Tac Totally records, recently, released a new fuzzed out 7″ by Charlie and The Moonhearts, Drop In Drop Out. Fast, hardhitting, and a shitstorm of reverb, this new discovery of mine is highly recommended. Out now, purchase here.
Charlie and the Moonhearts – Obliteration
============
In Other Words:

Playing with the Moonhearts (and Charlie) on their current tour, Ty Segall, is another psychgazer out of the Bay Area. I saw him recently at South by South Flesh as an impromptu set (Wavves was a no show). Didn’t know what to think at first when I saw some random guy playing a “one man band” (kick drum, high hat w/ tambourine, and a guitar) bit. Made me forget Wavves was supposed to play. Grab some of his vinyls. Now. Here.
Here are some of the Texas tour dates…
June 18th @ The Listening Room (Club DaDa) Dallas, Tx
July 4th @ Mango’s Houston, Tx
July 5th @ Beerland Austin, Tx
