We Shot JR was kind of enough to record the Tonstartssbandht set the other night at Doom that blew everyone out of the water, these two videos are about a third of the set and feature “Black Country” and a song unknown to me.

Now outside of our “usual” hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a “prime” slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST. According to the meterologist, it’s balls cold today so we’ve slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters). This week’s effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next. It’s been a busy week with moving, work, and some SXSW planning but (teaser) we’ve got some good/big news coming your way real soon. Click HERE and follow the links to tune in.

Edwin of Montreal/NYC based Tonstartssbandht have just sent over the newest tracks from their Parson Sounds cassette which were all written by Pärson Sound, Harvester & International Harvester. Honestly, I’m not in the least familiar with these Swedes but Tonstartssbandht and their purveyance of avant-garde recordings is exactly why I’ve grown so fond of their releases. The tracks sent were both topping the 9 minute mark so it’s safe to say that “It’s Only Love” and “Sov Gott Rose Marie” are probably an entire side. Check with Black Cheeks next week for ordering info. While I’m at it, why not throw in this video for “Black Country”? (Created by Con Artists)

Click here and you will be on your way to the third episode of Weekly Tape Deck radio on Indie-Verse. This week we’ve decided to throw a classic in the mix and will probably continue the tradition every week, or as we see fit. Aside from that we’ve got some brand new tracks from The Magic Kids, Happy Family, Best Coast, and The Sandwitches. Click the jump for a complete tracklisting and right here for a link to listen.

Still going strong two weeks into our programming on, the great, Indie-Verse radio and we’ve got another nice lineup of tunes. We’ve got the local scene covered with some tracks from Fergus & Geronimo and The Uptown Bums. Also, my new collective friends from Oxford, MS, Cats Purring, have their fair share of play time. Listen to the show today at 1 PM CST and again on Saturday at the same time. We’ll be in Denton (at Rubber Gloves) tonight for our show with Crystal Antlers, Video and Uptown Bums. Come say hi. Head here for the link to stream. Hit the jump for the tracklisting.

Thanks to Denny’s, I thought Maihama was just some off way of saying Miami. When actually it’s the name given to the monorail line that dives straight in the middle of the Tokyo Disney Resort. Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the train had the latest Tonstartssbandht (Ton-starts-band-it) cassette blaring over the intercom. While the doos, oohs and aahs are “twee as fuck“, this level of experimentation could only be melded in Brooklyn (rather than the isles). Actually, Andy and Edwin now call Montreal home, but that’s close enough. They’ve recently released Maihama on a ultra-limited cassette via (NYC) label Dœs Are. If yours is green, you know it’s the first edition.

The beautiful (from the neck down) Butter x Face ladies long ago brought the Tonstartssbandht crew to my attention when offering their An When LP up for freeload. Here’s a standout:

Just breezed through this new French digital singles stop, BEKO DSL. Slightly put off at first, but after listening to their offerings I was floored. Case in point, are mellow Swedish psych-ers Death and Vanilla. Colin Blunstone may be English, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he knocked someone up while touring in Malmo. Check the BEKO site every Monday for a different singles edition. The tracks themselves don’t seem to be “brand new” but from the looks of things we should expect drops of sorts from Pure Ecstasy, Nude Beach, Tonstartssbandht, and Tan Dollar just to name a few. Also, Death and Vanilla have these tracks, along with others, here.
