Scene veterans Yo La Tengo will be joined by Times New Viking tomorrow night for, what should be, an amazing live session at the Granada Theater. The fine people at the Granada have given me one pair of tickets to give as well. You know the drill, comment or send an email to weeklytapedecktix@gmail.com I will select a winner at random later today. Get tickets here.

For our first “all access” coverage of any sort of music festival, I’d have to call it a great success. The line ups for both days was absolutely rad. The weather? Completely dichotomous. As for day no. 1, nothing but clear skies and and Spring-like temperatures (we’ll get to day no. 2 later). From the laid-back of chillwave tunes of Neon Indian to the circus show antics of Les Savy Fav, A. Jayne, once again, was able to capture the FunFunFun with pinpoint accuracy . Oh, and I threw in my fair share of pics as well (mine are “sans watermark”). Enjoy…

Today we at Weekly Tape Deck will be straddling the long road to Austin, TX in search of fun, booze and of course music; all signs lead to Funfunfunfest. FFFfest has become the intermediary between SXSW and the lineup this year proves to be their best so far. You can bet we will be taking plenty of pictures and getting all the info your brains can handle. If you would like to keep up with us in real time the WTD dudes’ twitters are here and here. Furthermore, if you happen to be heading down there, or if you would just like to jam a few bands that are playing– WTD has put together a few songs from some of the artists we will be watching. Enjoy.
Les Savy Fav – Patty Lee
The Strange Boys – This Girls Taught Me a Dance
No Age – Losing Feeling
Harlem – I’m On Drugs
Atlas Sound – Criminals
Times New Viking – Call & Respond
Mika Miko – Bastard In Love
Fuck Buttons – Rough Steez
Crystal Antlers – Owl
GZA – Shadowboxin’ (feat. Method Man)
Neon Indian – Terminally Chill

Our Italian friend Jonathan Clancy (His Clancyness), in his spare time, works for Bologna, Italy’s Città Del Capo Radio Metropolitana. Their daily show, Maps, recently added Times New Viking to their list of live in-studio recordings. Here’s “No Time, No Hope” and check out their session for some more tunes.

Times New Viking’s new video for “No Time, No Hope” just premiered earlier this week and is getting some much deserved love. However, I haven’t seen the same love spread for their acoustic version (maybe I need to get around more). Their latest LP, Born Again Revisited, was just dropped via Matador Records, buy it.

Lovvers are another band in the recent trend towards a punk reawakening. The guys from the UK will be releasing their OCD Go Go Girls/Flowers 7″ August 3rd for download through Wichita Recordings. (Aug. 10th for the real deal) The sound is full of no-fi, fractured guitars with buried vocals well behind recognition at times. The group played @SXSW this past spring along with appearances beside Yeasayer, Jay Reatard, and Times New Viking amongst many others. I’ve included two tracks off the 7″ in “OCD Go Go Girls” and “100 Flowers.” A new album entitled THINK (a 13 minute, 7 song chaotic stroll) is out on Wichita as well. Some more info on this guys here. Also included is “Wasted Youth,” from THINK and for those of you lucky enough to see these guys in the northeast, I’ve included the latest tour details.
