Mastering the art of “teasing”, The Big Pink have gone from dropping nice singles to an album streaming (yr one week time frame has passed, dudes) in promotion of A Brief History of Love. Now, a video premier for their single, “Dominos”. They even transform those naked ladies from their cover art into ice sculptures and….blow them up! And from first glimpse of their drummer, well I think I have a new crush.

Yet another brilliant single (and one more NSFW piece of album art), The Big Pink offer up “Dominos”. As we mentioned before, their latest LP, A Brief History of Love, is set to release on 9/14 via 4AD. So far, it looks like they are keeping true to their theme. Still haven’t gotten the whole “podcast” perfected yet. But, no worries, I’ll keep to my word. Can’t say it’s the most eventful weekend (show-wise), unless you’re just dying to make it to that New Kids on the Block bash tonight (seriously, this is not some lame ass joke). Here’s a slight recap of the week and (as always) a few extra I couldn’t let slide.

UPDATE: Remember how I said this weekend was uneventful? Well, I’m completely full of shit. Tonight, for all you readers in the DFW area, the Dallas Observer will be showcasing most of the musicians nominated for this years Dallas Observer Music Awards (DOMAXXI, their 21st year). Six venues in the Lower Greenville area will host 40 bands for the oh-so-low price of 5 bucks. WTD favs Bad Sports, Yeahdef, and Fergus and Geronimo are just a few in what should be an abundance of stellar live music. Here is the lineup/schedule.

Another phenominal release from UK’s The Big Pink to follow up “Velvet”. No worries, this time the album art is safe for productive work internet surfing (unlike last time [NSFW]). “Stop the World”, also released by 4AD, also showcases that Brits still possess a stronghold on shoegazing. More of a pop-y side to their catalogue, producer Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Futureheads, etc.) steps in to leave his touch on this track. Finally releasing album information, The Big Pink will release their debut LP, A Brief History of Love, on September 14th via 4AD and “every song is a love song to some degree, about every different aspect of love”.
