Its been four years since the last Radio Dept. full length studio album, Pet Grief, and though it was monumentally disappointing to me, Ive not given up on the Swedish dream-pop trio. With the release of their four song EP David, last year, they reinvigorated their sound and made me believe they had another great record in them. Now we come to the good stuff; the new record is titled Clinging To A Scheme and comes out April 21, but for now we have the beat-driven single with a Thurston Moore soundbyte to quench our shoegazin’ thirst. “Heavon’s On Fire” almost makes me think of a a shoegazing version of a Steve Winwood song; the horn section? Okay maybe thats a stretch.

The Swedes are taking over. Now members from both The Embassy and Studio have joined together to create a supergroup-of-sorts in The Crepes. The sound is not too far off from The Embassy; with a bit of acoutic-tropicalia. Its my guess they didn’t take this project TOO seriously but enough to put out a quaint seven-song record titled What Else? You can purchase this in CD form (vinyl LP sold out) at the INFORMATION website.
