I’ve been jamming this album very recently enjoying these tunes for the energy they give off. There is a tinge of Modest Mouse present here with Still Flyin’ in their single “The Hott Chord is Struck,” but that is the only influence I give credit bandwise to because it ends there. This San Francisco band’s amalgamation of sound includes some sort of funky, rasta, pop, saxophone, cheerleader chant music vibe. I could probably come up with numerous other adjectives to describe the sound, even a slowed down sample of The Trashmen’s “Surfin Bird” makes its way into a song. They recently played SXSW, although it’s hard to know who will show up to play at any given show considering there are too many members to count…even Jens Lekman is a credited member: A modern day jam band supreme. Buy album here.
