Easily one of the “Most Rad Cassette Release of 2k9″, Pill Wonder’s Jungle/Surf was released cassette-style via the (great) Wild Animal Kingdom. Now, thanks to Underwater Peoples, yr analog PW collection can be completed as they are releasing this gem on 12″ vinyl (only UP’s 2nd LP release). It’s been a while since I’ve lost sleep in anticipation of Christmas Day goodies. As a kid, thoughts of the Transformers Dinobots and Legos were usually the culprit. This year: The Underwater Peoples Winter Review. Seriously, I ran to the computer and downloaded this before I even took a glimpse at any wrapped boxes. After some quality headphone time, we would like to share this awesome compilation over airwaves (um, internet airwaves) from cover to cover. Since our episodes are 16 tracks long (the comp being only 15), we thought it fitting to lead off with MJ’s “Human Nature”. While I’m on things Wild Animal Kingdom, Dana has also sent over some new tracks from the upcoming Pill Wonder Jungle/Surf tape. Not only will this see release on WAK, but Underwater Peoples will be releasing this on 12″. These tracks are so humid, your living room will turn into a sauna. In about ten seconds. If you haven’t heard PW’s other jams, dude at Friendship Bracelet has what you need. The cassette pre-order is up and running. Sit tight for the vinyls.

While making my internet rounds the other day, I happened to see our Hold Yr Breath mixtape pinned up at one of our favorite record label’s blogs. Underwater Peoples, that is. It was also good to see that the mix was in good company with a variety of other mixes from some of my favorite music watering holes. One of these mixes that particularly caught my eye was that of the Wild Animal Kingdom. Fathering many of the artists that are now on Underwater Peeps from Julian Lynch to Pill Wonder, and it doesn’t stop there. On cassette, Wild Animal Kingdom’s second compilation features a heavenly dish of those chill laid-back tunes that are making everyone’s summer more enjoyable. Been digging on Pill Wonder ever since the rad Underwater People comp dropped earlier this year, up for download at Butter x Face. Just recently, Friendship Bracelet was able offer up some listenings that extended past the PW myspace page. “What We Know”, is a sticky stroll through the rain forest after your buddies told you not to lick that tree frog.
