There is almost no information on Nesey Gallons anywhere on the interweb next to the fact they are from Maine (which is somewhat strange) and they’ve toured and played shows with some Elephant 6 bands (which isn’t strange at all considering the sound of the band). Honestly I don’t need a back story to enjoy this band, all I need to go on is the band’s sound is tragically low-key and downtrodden folk. Only occasionally is there a 2 part harmony on the newest record by this band Eyes & Eyes & Eyes Ago; I suppose you could say the sound is very similar to Circulatory System and Olivia Tremor Control with little or none of the psychedelia associated with those bands. Nesey Gallons is much more straight forward with little else but devout lyrics peppered over heartfelt acoustic guitar. You can order this record on vinyl, which I can only imagine is the best way to enjoy it, on the Cloud Recordings website.

Recorded in various trailer parks and apartment complexes, Campfires latest tracks are palpable to any guy on the same page as Olivia Tremor Control. Crunchy, rustic bedroom pop with enough noise to rival a steel mill. For the time being, Jeff Walls is taking it solo even though it sounds like he is playing for eight (live line up is in the oven). Just look how crafty the guy is, he’s carving his own spearhead! A self-released cassette is nearing completion and will be put out for sale in a round of 50. Send an email to campfires.music@gmail.com to have one sent your way.
