[video] black lips//so long to carolina

New Black Lips song recorded live at Jonathan Clancy’s radio base, Maps, in Italy.  “So Long to Carolina” is an adventurous bluegrass ballad for that free-spirited spontaneous traveler.  Saddle up.

his clancyness//how it’s done in italy

While on tour in Italy, Danish trio My Bubba + Mi specially wrote this track for the We Were Never Boring collective.  Originally released on March 8th, His Clancyness was captivated (see what he has to say here) by this recording and performed his own take.  Celebrating their one-year birthday, WWNB has put both renditions on a digital single and are giving it away for free.

Always Mist is set to release sometime in the near future on Mirror Universe Tapes but, in the mean time, Jonathan Clancy is still keeping busy.  While I’m looking like a geek by the pool with my laptop, I might as well post a barrage of tunes that remind me of why I’m out here in the first place.  Brand new recording from His Clancyness “Summer Majestic” is exactly what these pool babes are in the mood for.

his clancyness//sight prayer

HC

As part of his upcoming 12″ LP on Secret Furry Hole and (also) complimenting the itinerant exhibition of Italian artist Ester Grossi, His Clancyness’s latest hymn, “Sight Prayer”, is an offering of solace.  Actually, the entire LP is set to revolve around said exhibition’s theme:  “an exploration, from an American Gothic point of view, of a funeral ritual”.  Also, keep your ear to the ground for some Clancyness on cassette label, Mirror Universe.

Now outside of our “usual” hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a “prime” slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST.  According to the meterologist, it’s balls cold today so we’ve slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters).  This week’s effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next.  It’s been a busy week with moving, work, and some SXSW planning but (teaser) we’ve got some good/big news coming your way real soon.  Click HERE and follow the links to tune in.

his clancyness//mistify the ocean

hisclancy

On the verge of a cassette release via Mirror Universe Tapes, His Clancyness is sharing “Mistify the Ocean” to keep us warm while we’re on the verge of an “arctic outbreak” (I live in Texas so I probably shouldn’t be complaining about cold weather).  Jonathan Clancy has been keeping our headphones happy all last year, and we’re looking forward to a full LP-like release.

on a tangent:

Our normal radio time at Indie-Verse has changed.  Ryan and I will now be on air on Thursdays at 4 PM.  Word is this is a better time slot, and we like that.

a classic education//what my life could have been

A Classic Education (out of the apparently lush music scene of Bologna) sent over the link to their new FREE single out on Holiday Recs, dont you just love when people hand out music for free? The eponymous a-side is a dashing one; with an interesting choice for b-sides “Toi” by classic chanson francaise singer Gilbert Bécaud.

his clancyness//misinterpret my words

Jonathan Clancy (aka His Clancyness) sent over a new track titled “Misinterpret My Words” with which he continues his splendid musical endeavors. Yes he is somewhat “mysterious,” but I’m apt not going to worry too much about that, so for now, let the music be enough of a beautiful expression to keep you interested in this young man and the unbound limits of his potential.
