(photo via google image search)

Smoothly skating into our 5th episode of WTD radio (courtesy of the rad fellows at Indie-Verse) I put together a quick list of everything that I’ve been listening to for the past week.  New tracks from Wild Harem and Harlem (both out of Austin, I might add), Wetdog, and Americans in France.  For good measure I’ve peppered in some classic favorites of mine.  I know you’re probably missing the silky smooth linguistics of Ryan, but he will be back next week.  I promise.  To get thrown into our regular rotation send all tracks to weeklytapedeck@gmail.com and we’ll give it a listen. Click HERE to listen.  Hit the jump for mp3s and tracklist.

[video] girls//lust for life

About a day behind on this, but check out this new video for Girls‘ “Lust For Life”.  Only a matter of time before Chris Owens and Co. are on stage in our area.  As before mentioned, we’ve got two pairs of tickets to hand out for Saturday’s show at the Granada (winners picked on Wednesday).  Also, they will be in Denton just a few days before with Smith Westerns, Fergus and Geronimo, and Teenage Cool Kids at Mable Peabody’s.  Check out one, or both.  Either way, good times will be had.  In addition, here’s a mini-playlist of some of our favorite tracks from the other bands that are set to play.

Los Campesinos! – We Are All Accelerated Readers
Teenage Cool Kids – Foreign Lands
The Smith Westerns – Give Me Some Time
Fergus and Geronimo – Harder Than It’s Ever Been

teenage cool kids//foreign lands

tck_foreign

Just last week I was in attendance for the Teenage Cool Kids record release show for their latest lp, Foreign Lands, at Rubber Gloves in Denton (actually the real album cover is much cooler, I just couldn’t find one that was big enough).  Released by Protagonist Music on super sturdy 180 gram vinyl, TCK are about to take over the world on a rediculous 3 month tour.  First, romping through the upper 48 before they head over seas (apparantly these guys are huge in the UK).  While in the states, Andrew Savage will also be touring with his other project, Fergus and Geronimo.  Make sure to catch their last local show for a while as they hit up a house venue in Denton, The Majestic Dwelling of Doom (muahaha!), on Aug. 3rd.  Youngsters the Fungi Girls will also be playing this show.
