Earlier this week digital singles label Beko unleashed a massive compilation of exclusive tracks from some of our favorite artists. Including, but not limited to, this slow-core burner from Eternal Summers. Actually, it won’t be long until we get an entire full-length’s worth of new tracks from this duo as Kanine Records has officially announced the release of their debut LP, Silver. Due out 9/28.

A collective of friends sharing equipment and recording time at their home studio in Roanoake, VA, The Magic Twig Community is responsible for churning out some of our favorite tunes (i.e. Eternal Summers). Our friend Daniel–one half of ES–has sent over a few tracks from one of his other projects, The Young Sinclairs, that are good to appear on their latest release. A “vinyl only” compilation of 18 songs from 5 albums titled The Songs of The Young Sinclaires and is already available on Kindercore. Super stoned psych-folk jams that may as well have been berthed in the late 60s. Check out the other dudes from the Magic Twig Community here.

Eternal Summers‘ sweet lomography tinged video for “Secret Language” was neatly wrapped (bow in tact) and gently placed in my inbox this morning. “Secret Language” is set to appear in two different places: on a 7″ split with Reading Rainbows (Chimney Sweep Records) and on a 5 track 7″ EP through UK’s Meal Deal Records (actually available for pre-order). Directed by Aaron DeBruin, who also filmed RR’s “The Sun is Out“.

wtd blog radio//indie-verse

Now outside of our “usual” hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a “prime” slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST. According to the meterologist, it’s balls cold today so we’ve slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters). This week’s effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next. Earlier today the (fairly) new digital single label BEKO DSL released two new Eternal Summers tracks that have been spending the day in my headphones. Speaking with Nicole//guitah, “These are sort of the oldest tracks from the new LP…They kind of bridge our EP with the rest of the LP if that makes sense.” Said EP was self released earlier this year on CD and is soon to–also a DIY effort–release on a vinyl 10″. Soon enough we’ll see these two (“Safe at Home” + “Dye”) along with 12 more. Can’t wait to meet up with these cats at SXSW, which is beating down the block.

Although the Eternal Summers duo was not together, Daniel was a madman on the tambourine and is accompanying Reading Rainbows on their current tour. After a six pack of Stella and a bag of freeze dried shrimp, my friends have since sent me their newest ep. Somewhat similar to their Philly BFFs, their tunes are dripping with pop psychedelia and good vibes. Now in the middle of recording a long player, plus another EP to be released in the UK by/with A Grave With No Name. As for now, head over to their myspace and scoop up their most current tunes.

Thought you should also know that the Eternal Summers are members of a rad music collective, The Magic Twig Community. Cool bands and coloring books (only $1 !!!), TMC consists of several musicians including but not limited to: The Young Sinclairs, The Sad Cobras, The Missionaries, SUNKING!, and more. From a few spins on their myspace playlists, I’ve been enjoying all of these peeps. Eventually they will have a proper site so yall can “get into the magic”.
