I’ve been camping on these Free Kisses tracks for waaay to long to not have them up here already.  While I’m stuck indoors ‘cos of this flood campaign (seriously 3rd day straight of rain) I’ve, at least, got these woozy gems to keep me company.  Check out Karen this week at a variety of East Coast and Midwestern venues with Cloud Nothings.

cloud nothings//hey cool kid [memoryhouse remix]

Our brothers across the sea, Transparent, posted the remix to Cloud Nothings hit “Hey Cool Kid” a couple of days ago. The remix was curated by the great Memoryhouse who all to often wrinkles my brain. This particular remix is slow as oversweetened-mushy-molasses thats gently falling of the plate of rad. If you didnt already know, Cloud Nothings just put out Turning On on vinyl and as I just got it in the mail I can tell you first hand is a beautiful listen.

Limited to 100 copies, Bathetic Records is releasing a c22 split with the likes of–2 dudes we’ve been digging–Cloud Nothings and Campfires.  Fast paced and blown out, tunes like “Little Raygun” are the epitome of why I’ve been digging on these guys.  Head to the Bathetic site to listen to another CN jam along with one from Campfires.  Oh, and don’t forget to purchase this gem while your’re there.

Now outside of our “usual” hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a “prime” slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST.  According to the meterologist, it’s balls cold today so we’ve slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters).  This week’s effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next.  It’s been a busy week with moving, work, and some SXSW planning but (teaser) we’ve got some good/big news coming your way real soon.  Click HERE and follow the links to tune in.

cloud nothings//can’t stay awake

A couple of weeks ago Cloud Nothings blew me away with “Hey Cool Kid” and sent word that their cassette on Bridgetown Records was not too far in the future.  The day has come, cassette has been released and they have sent over the opening track, “Can’t Stay Awake”.  Looks like they’re already getting HUGE too.  Ha, they’ve already landed a gig at the legendary Shea Stadium with the babes from Coasting (7th inning stretch or National Anthem?).  Yeah, yeah baseball season is out but you can still order Turning On right now.

Click here and you will be on your way to the third episode of Weekly Tape Deck radio on Indie-Verse.  This week we’ve decided to throw a classic in the mix and will probably continue the tradition every week, or as we see fit.  Aside from that we’ve got some brand new tracks from The Magic Kids, Happy Family, Best Coast, and The Sandwitches.  Click the jump for a complete tracklisting and right here for a link to listen.

cloudnothing

For the past two weeks Cleveland (Believeland), Ohio has been making their case at becoming synonymous with something other than Bone Thugs.  First with Neon Tongues, and now with the mysterious Cloud Nothings.  While I don’t know much about these dudes, I think it’s safe to say that the tunes speak for themselves.  Carrying on the lo-fi tradition that’s been hotter than this past Texas Summer, their tracks are still airy enough to float over the wall of fuzz.  Some serious cool kids.  Look for an Untitled (see mysterious?) CD to drop soon with Bridgetown Records.
