Something about tangible goods that beat the hell out of burning your eyes on a computer screen. No guys, print is not dead and McG (of Chocolate Bobka fame) is proving this with his bi-annual journal of various musings written by various scribes. Order your copy (and get some more info) here and check out a few video teasers of what you should expect.

It’s been a while since I’ve lost sleep in anticipation of Christmas Day goodies. As a kid, thoughts of the Transformers Dinobots and Legos were usually the culprit. This year: The Underwater Peoples Winter Review. Seriously, I ran to the computer and downloaded this before I even took a glimpse at any wrapped boxes. After some quality headphone time, we would like to share this awesome compilation over airwaves (um, internet airwaves) from cover to cover. Since our episodes are 16 tracks long (the comp being only 15), we thought it fitting to lead off with MJ’s “Human Nature”. Head to Indie-Verse for the broadcast and, when you’re done, download the entire thing free (for a limited time) at Chocolate Bobka’s.

Posted earlier today, Sawyer from Underwater Peoples announced (amongst a crossfire of motorcycles in the Mekong Delta) the release of their Winter Review via McG on his “fucking awesome blog”, Chocolate Bobka. Much like their comp released on BxF this will be a free download for a short period of time. What an awesome gift for all of us to unwrap this Christmas Day.

I should probably have a permanent decal on the side of my page linking to Chocolate Bobka’s always amazing live footage. My twitter feed was completely stuffed all weekend with CMJ updates and I was constantly reminded how everyone was “KILLING IT”. While I wasn’t there (obviously) McG and Co. truly capture the essence of what I missed and this should be evident in their live recording of Real Estate’s “Black Lake”. –which, by the way, is probably my fav RE jam.

Featured in the greatness of the Friendship Bracelet Club Comp and recently reminded to us all in the latest Bobkast, I’ve been getting sleepy with Paralyze Humanity Sequence’s “Hammock”. A lot. Which is very likely to be one of the most chill kick-back tunes this Summer. Sure this parallel has been drawn before, but this takes me back to ‘07 when Person Pitch was the music that everyone seemed to chill and kick-back to. This ep was released a while ago, but that’s no excuse to not show some love here. Besides, the ep can be grabbed for the low price of free (on his myspace), but it would be super cool of you to drop a donation. You can hear “Hammock” from one of the many options listed above but while you’re here, take some time with “Wise Guy”.

While making my internet rounds the other day, I happened to see our Hold Yr Breath mixtape pinned up at one of our favorite record label’s blogs. Underwater Peoples, that is. It was also good to see that the mix was in good company with a variety of other mixes from some of my favorite music watering holes. One of these mixes that particularly caught my eye was that of the Wild Animal Kingdom. Fathering many of the artists that are now on Underwater Peeps from Julian Lynch to Pill Wonder, and it doesn’t stop there. On cassette, Wild Animal Kingdom’s second compilation features a heavenly dish of those chill laid-back tunes that are making everyone’s summer more enjoyable. Head over to their site, check out the catalogue, and order what you fancy. The 2nd comp is set for a FREE download and here are a couple tracks that have stood the test of my rewind button.
