Limited to 100 copies, Bathetic Records is releasing a c22 split with the likes of–2 dudes we’ve been digging–Cloud Nothings and Campfires. Fast paced and blown out, tunes like “Little Raygun” are the epitome of why I’ve been digging on these guys. Head to the Bathetic site to listen to another CN jam along with one from Campfires. Oh, and don’t forget to purchase this gem while your’re there.

We haven’t written about Campfires in a bit but the adroit young musician has a new Mexican Summer 7-inch with–wait for it….more than 2 songs on it– which I find to be rare. The first a-side on the record has been put up on the Campfires myspace, the second is below. Purchase the 7-inch if only for the stucco-Pollock artwork.

Recorded in various trailer parks and apartment complexes, Campfires latest tracks are palpable to any guy on the same page as Olivia Tremor Control. Crunchy, rustic bedroom pop with enough noise to rival a steel mill. For the time being, Jeff Walls is taking it solo even though it sounds like he is playing for eight (live line up is in the oven). Just look how crafty the guy is, he’s carving his own spearhead! A self-released cassette is nearing completion and will be put out for sale in a round of 50. Send an email to campfires.music@gmail.com to have one sent your way.
