Our fourth episode will, not only, have some great new tracks up (from Beach House, Brilliant Colors, and Total Slacker) but we are also having a contest. Just use these easy to follow steps and we will send you a unique cassette tape of today’s show sans commentary, of course. We are also including a “one-of-a-kind” hand designed sleeve for the cassette. Cool, right? Well, whether you think so or not just email us at weeklytapedecktix@gmail.com with the artist name and title of the very last song in our rotation. First person to do so is the winner! Honestly, it’s not incredibly hard to name but contests are fun and so are mix-tapes so use yr ears. Tune in to Indie-Verse, listen, and get a cool cassette. ALSO! Don’t forget to catch Neko Case tonight at the Granada Theater. Tracklist after the jump.

It’s amazing when a band like The Pains of Being Pure At Heart essentially resurrect a genre (twee) and bring it back into the limelight after it had so long rested on the like of Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura, and its not surprising that other twee ands trying to make it will no doubt get more attention. Brilliant Colors are one of these bands, and coincidentally are signed to the same label, Slumberland, as TPOBPAH. Brilliant Colors is a female trio that adheres more to the traditional twee sound of lo-fi, single guitar and soft female vocals. I honestly can say I feel like I am in the mid 90s when I listen to this band; which I dont have to tell you is a very enjoyable experience. “Motherland” comes from their debut Introducing which comes out November 3rd and can be ordered (at some point soon) through the Slumberland store.
