La Blogotheque recently posted this acoustic version of Atlas Sound’s “Attic Lights”. I’ve always been a fan of their Take Away Shows, but this video has particularly captured my attention.

A line-up that was more intriguing to me than the first day was totally dampened by the rain. all. day. long. Started things off with the great Atlas Sound and Ally was one of the few that they actually allowed on stage for photo ops. Not only were her ones of Bradford most excellent, but she was able to do another fine job of capturing each artist at their best. Sans rain, this is one of the better times I’ve had at a music festival. Hands down.

Today we at Weekly Tape Deck will be straddling the long road to Austin, TX in search of fun, booze and of course music; all signs lead to Funfunfunfest. FFFfest has become the intermediary between SXSW and the lineup this year proves to be their best so far. You can bet we will be taking plenty of pictures and getting all the info your brains can handle. If you would like to keep up with us in real time the WTD dudes’ twitters are here and here. Furthermore, if you happen to be heading down there, or if you would just like to jam a few bands that are playing– WTD has put together a few songs from some of the artists we will be watching. Enjoy.
Les Savy Fav – Patty Lee
The Strange Boys – This Girls Taught Me a Dance
No Age – Losing Feeling
Harlem – I’m On Drugs
Atlas Sound – Criminals
Times New Viking – Call & Respond
Mika Miko – Bastard In Love

There’s something about plunging into a crisp swimming pool that makes me feel completely isolated from the masses in my surroundings. The images in my chlorine filled eyes are familiar yet not completely defined, a mash up of chatter (which I’m, most likely, not interested in) is almost completely filtered out through the water, and I’m completely floating in a medium where the normal rules of gravity don’t apply. More themed than most of my mixtapes, these tracks (which also happen to be new/ish) are nearly as muffled as the bros in the pool crowd. And Robin, I gots that jj for ya.
FINALLY: No, this isn’t the podcast, yet, but I’ve included a link to download this weeks mixtape in its entirety. Enjoy!

I was so busy trying to get the website looking “perfect” yesterday that I looked over this new Bradford Cox tune yesterday. Atlas Sound actually has a very current blog to keep music addicts up to date and they released some new tracks yesterday. Don’t want to forget to mention Cox’s other endeavor earlier this week via Deerhunter (mp3 single “Rainwater Cassette Exchange”/7″ ep will be available June 8 on Kranky). These new tunes from Atlas Sound can actually be downloaded for free on their blog.
Deerhunter – Rainwater Cassette Exchange
Atlas Sound – Springtime Instrumental
