En route to SXSW, some of our favorite dudes will be playing a two day party at Mable Peabody’s this coming Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 15 & 16th @ 7 PM SHARP!).  Along with us, our Denton bros and G vs B hope to get you prepared with this killer lineup (check the jump) for what is already set to be a killer week.  So, if you’re not gonna bring a date…

cults//go outside

GvB put this track up about a week ago and it has been blowing some minds since then, include WTD on that list. Not a whole lot is known about Cults barring a Jim Jones clip and a couple of avant-pictures.

cloud nothings//little raygun

cloudcamp

Limited to 100 copies, Bathetic Records is releasing a c22 split with the likes of–2 dudes we’ve been digging–Cloud Nothings and Campfires.  Fast paced and blown out, tunes like “Little Raygun” are the epitome of why I’ve been digging on these guys.  Head to the Bathetic site to listen to another CN jam along with one from Campfires.  Oh, and don’t forget to purchase this gem while your’re there.

the young sinclairs//songs…

SONGS_1.1-small

A collective of friends sharing equipment and recording time at their home studio in Roanoake, VA, The Magic Twig Community is responsible for churning out some of our favorite tunes (i.e. Eternal Summers).  Our friend Daniel–one half of ES–has sent over a few tracks from one of his other projects, The Young Sinclairs, that are good to appear on their latest release.  A “vinyl only” compilation of 18 songs from 5 albums titled The Songs of The Young Sinclaires and is already available on Kindercore.  Super stoned psych-folk jams that may as well have been berthed in the late 60s.  Check out the other dudes from the Magic Twig Community here.

reading rainbow//underground

Heres another great band playing our SXSW extravaganza, Reading Rainbow sent over one of their new songs titled “Underground,” its a quick 1 minute fun-filled cookie-cake of a song full of those Everly-like close harmonies that I enjoy so much from this band.

the xx//island [remixes]

The xx have essentially made everyone’s lives better, wouldnt you agree? They come along, unannounced and unexpected and make a huge fuss of their gothic-post-punk-drummy music. Its beautiful really, its something your girlfriend wants to have sex while listening to; the band has never shied away from remixes, and now comes the song “Island” as the subject. The notable bands on the release are Delorean and Nosaj Thing, and the remixes between the two could not be any different. Note: we’ve posted a few of the xx songs before/also I can’t wait to see the band at SXSW.

Tjhe xx – Islands (Delorean Remix)

UPDATE:  Been a few pitched to the max mp3s floating around of this.  Here’s the originals.

birthdays//biggie shorty

We were sent this track a few days back by Samuel Yager, known by the pseudonym Birthdays, and I just got around to listening to it and its consequently made my day. The track is “Biggie Shorty” and comes off his Mating Falls EP out on Little Fury Things and he alluded to a new EP on one of our fav labels, Breakfast Of Champs. The track is a boisterous escape into a thicket of soft-sounds and understated vocals.  The end of this song comes in at a healthy 3 min but for all enjoyable purposes I have to keep it on repeat.
