Matt Valentine, known primarily for his urban-turned-rural folk of the 90s with Tower Recordings through the 2000s with MV & EE. The man is violently proficient in all of his endeavors but never to the point of redundancy. His newest effort recorded at the oft-used and positively abused “Maximum Arousal Farm” home studio is What I Became. I would be remiss as a writer if I did not mention the drug-heavy George Harrison semblance emanating from the featured track “PK Dick” the tactile vocal delivery of Kurt Vile and the sure-footed stasis of hill-country/Indian classical music, most recently/relevantly explored by Julian Lynch. “PK Dick” is a slow burner, but is as genuine and distinct as songs come these days.
Matt “MV” Valentine: “PK Dick”
What I Became will be available in LP format on June 14th through Woodsist

Ggle Highs have been making cold waves lately with their evil and motherless brand of gothic-minimal synth beats. “Auto Love” takes a different turn with Residents-style vocal warbling that resembles Darktown Strutters. Also check out a visionary video below for “Shimmering Immers”.

The Feeling of Love is a self-proclaimed “SPACE GARAGE” outfit from Metz, France. Their sound crawls between the grungy bits J Spaceman threw up before a 2-hour peyote jam fest and the “classic” Nuggets-era organ brilliance that pulses your brain like a penny-less piggy bank on a construction site. Check out the songs “Young Jesus” and “Numboy” the latter with its own dizzying music video to boot. LP is said to be out on Kill Shaman this month.

Been waiting to hear this band for awhile and little did I know that they had a bandcamp with a few songs on it. The OBN III‘s master the snotty proto-punk of The Dead Boys with lyrical prowess and blues rhythms of the Gories. The Austin, TX band is presumably the project of Orville Bateman Neeley III (OBN III), member of Denton Punk mainstay Bad Sports. In a side note, if you recall Casual Victim Pile, there is a sequel and The OBN III’s are one of the many bands on it, check it out digitally or vinylly.

SALEM created a video for their now half-a-year-old release King Night. Their grimy mix of screwed gangsta rap and lowly goth beats is still fairly intriguing to me even after countless copycats.
