So maybe we actually don’t make it another two years, that makes all that is upcoming much more important, and as a child on Christmas Eve or a virgin jumping in a lusty bed; the anticipation is part of the fun. WTD is all boned up on the coming of 2011 and are prognosticating what we will all soon enjoy. Perhaps we left a few out and perhaps these records will be out soon after the New Year starts, but we aren’t here to guess who might release this year. We will be rolling out some wonderful goods this coming year, our third year of existence. GvB posted a new Beach House holiday song, its wonderful when a band puts outs a continuous string of demos, live tracks, b-sides and now a beautiful holiday song.

Dent May brings Christmas spirit to the world ’round with his synth-powered “Holiday Face”, no doubt an instant classic.

France might not be the first place you recall when thinking of surf-pop, in fact you might not think any other place but the coast of California, but change is good, right? La Femme bring their brand of clean and embracing surf-pop to the US via the song, “Sur La Planche”, which I can only internet-translate to mean “on board”– but it’s probably for the best we don’t understand what they mean. Proof is in the adorable possessive punctuation error in the album cover. And if bossy bass, drum-beat and theremin-infused guitar distortion aren’t good enough, how about a cute-souding French girl commanding the vocals? We all win with this one.
La Femme have their EP available for digital download purchase at their bandcamp
translated via the incredible No Modest Bear:
“On a surf board / on the beach, on the wave, I’m searching for sensations / on a surfboard, in the tubes, I’m searching for sensations / you better not try and stop me from riding that wave, I’m invincible / if you dare push me in the tube, I will be waiting for you on the beach, on the wave” – La Femme, “Sur La Planche”

Have to admit despite the immense fame this band has gained and inevitable backlash, I still really enjoy this record. Here is a video directed by Lars Larsen, who was a big part of the Denton music scene for awhile with the 8th Continent house venue (which became Majestic Dwelling of Doom) and no-wave act Undoing of David Wright. I believe he now lives in Austin and runs LZX.

I saw these snapshots being taken the other night but Im delightfully surprised at how well they came out, the one and only Kyle LaValley took them, head to her website to see some recent happenings around Denton and other miscellanea. Check after the jump for more fancy photos.
