Whether you know them for their brash on-stage performances or their beer guzzling antics (we’re fortunate to know them for both), The Numerators have been turning heads and, meanwhile, developed a staunchly devoted underground scene in the Texas panhandle. To be precise, Lubbock (of all places). Their latest endeavor features a track from a Tour CD/R EP they compiled while on tour last year peppered with a few “proper” recording techniques. “Strawberry Dreams” is a scuzzy, synth-laden track conjuring up sounds of Liars pre-Drums Not Dead. Featured as the AA side on a split with the equally grimy Coathangers, this limited 7″ is due for a December 7th release on Suicide Squeeze Records. Pre-order available here.

I failed to notice for a whole month that Soft Powers had put up new songs on their bandcamp. The songs they’ve made listenable are absolutely magical, including the one below. Not sure when these “Baby Blue House Sessions” are to be released, but I already want my hands on them.

Like I said, it looked as if Bradford Cox was going to bestow more goodies upon us sooner than later. Here are Bedroom Databank Volumes 2 and 3. This guy is giving me a reason to be thankful.

Weekly Tape Deck has become your one-stop shop for everything BL§§D ØU† (Blissed Out) including this creepy montage, containing what seems like a dozen different movies (guess any?) and the bombastic song within backed by gurgling organ.

Looks like we’re going to be seeing more from White Fence early next year, Tim Presley better known for his talents in Darker My Love, is putting out another LP via Woodsist titled Is Growing Faith. Perfect psych rock as the day winds down.

As much as I want to let it escape my mind, the dark reds and translucent pinks created by the likes of Cocteau Twins and My Blood Valentine were painted to the shoe-gaze world for 20 years still get a fresh coat every few years; this year belongs to Pink Playground. The band claims the deep south of Houston, TX, where the heavy humidity presses on the crowns of populace; that weighty burden seems to find an outlet in the bulky beats and shards of fuzz Pink Playground produce.
An LP already in the works with Mexican Summer, the band will first release a 7″ with Zoo Music “soonish” and while no date has been set, the tracks can be purchased digitally. (co-premiere via Altered Zones)

MINKS just announced their LP will be released in January via Captured Tracks, the previous effort by this band is still resonating in my mind.
