Our blog-buddy yvvynl recently caught my attention with his posting of the Future Islands solo project from J. Gerrit Welmers called Moss Of Aura. I wouldn’t say that these are chillwave because I already find that term becoming derogatory but I will say they are chilly and wavy. “Swilling” almost starts out like cover of “Time After Time,” full of warm synth tones that is practically begging for an accompaniment with an above-ground-pool and a Corona-and-lime. Minimalist to the point of sheer euphoria, Moss Of Aura’s songs are not trying to complicate your mind but merely orate the sounds of day in the sol.
