Upon listening to the first note of the Mean Jeans record Are You Serious? I knew I loved it. Its nothing new of course, but when a band captures the pre-power pop/proto-punk/post-mod sound perfectly, it just drags me in regardless. Mean Jeans do this wonderfully, and its not like there havent been thousands of bands that have tried this and failed (to me) but sometimes it just clicks and this is one case. Ill leave it at that, just listen to these songs and enjoy.

Cool to see one of my favorite local Portland acts make it to your site! Here is a cool vid of them playing at the NW fast food chain Burgerville in PDX:
Brings back pleasant memories of the Groovie Ghoulies.
Are You Serious? is also the name of the legendary power-pop album by the artists Van Duren from Memphis, who was actually a member of Big Star for a brief moment in time. I wonder if the Mean Jeans are aware of that…
