Have a few snaps here from last weekend’s Real Estate show at City Tavern. Although the set seemed short (40 min), they tore through every song (“Black Lake” included) that I wanted to hear. Plus, I was able to grab an “only available on tour” piece of vinyl including live recordings at WMUA and WVKR.

Another highly anticipated release of ours, Reading Rainbow’s newest 7″ is now available for purchase on the San Diego label, Zoo Music. For now, you can sneak a listen of “Restless” over at their myspace page. I also highly recommend their Mystical Participation LP which was released earlier this year. But there’s nothing wrong with buying both.

Thanks to our Greenpoint brew buddy for pointing out this new So Cow download of all cover songs (In the Sitting Room), and it’s free. Complete with covers from The Soft Boys, The Go Betweens and more. His Tic Tac Totally release earlier this year has been one of my favorites all year and I strongly recommend a few listens. Also, very pleased to see him on the list of official artists that SXSW released last week. Click here to download In the Sitting Room.

Smoothly skating into our 5th episode of WTD radio (courtesy of the rad fellows at Indie-Verse) I put together a quick list of everything that I’ve been listening to for the past week. New tracks from Wild Harem and Harlem (both out of Austin, I might add), Wetdog, and Americans in France. For good measure I’ve peppered in some classic favorites of mine. I know you’re probably missing the silky smooth linguistics of Ryan, but he will be back next week. I promise. To get thrown into our regular rotation send all tracks to weeklytapedeck@gmail.com and we’ll give it a listen. Click HERE to listen. Hit the jump for mp3s and tracklist.

I realize I should have posted a ‘turkey-themed’ song yesterday but since Im willing to bet you have yet to finish your yearly love affair with that beautiful, tasty fowl, Ill post this Americans In France song anyway. A band who happens to be on tour right now–a tour cleverly dubbed “Americans In France Lose Their Jobs Tour 09″ they’ve been documenting it as well and have played with the likes of Jay Reatard and Harlem through this state-wide jaunt. Oh and the music is good too, below are two tracks from their Pretzylvania LP that came out earlier this year.
Americans In France – Turkey Fever

From the womb of bands like the Slits, the Raincoats and X-Ray Spex (favorites of Nate Tapedeck’s) arises modern day post-punk bands like Wetdog; covered in afterbirth and ready to spit in someone’s face. But honestly this band rejuvenates female lead post-punk with a modern flair. After putting out a series of 7-inches and one full-length, the band is prepped to release their new record in just a few days (Nov. 30) titled Frauhaus! and out on Angular Recording Corporation. You can pre-order the CD or the “heavy weight transparent yellow vinyl” here.

A Classic Education (out of the apparently lush music scene of Bologna) sent over the link to their new FREE single out on Holiday Recs, dont you just love when people hand out music for free? The eponymous a-side is a dashing one; with an interesting choice for b-sides “Toi” by classic chanson francaise singer Gilbert Bécaud.

NPIP posted about Deep Sht’s Weird You 7″ that they are putting out and the a-side “Sidetripping” is enchanting/mesmerizing enough for multiple plays. You can purchase that baby right here.

You know, there are people who don’t like bands like M83 or AnCo, for those of you that do, you may not want to read any further. Sun Airway (not Sun Araw) takes not-so-subtle influences from each of these bands, but how bad can that be? Not bad at all. Stationed in the cold corner of Phillie, PA the band’s production is notably impressive for a new band and whats more amazing is they offer their most recent output the Oh Naoko EP for free on their website! Radiohead has done the world great. Not sure if you want to download the record blindly? Listen below.
