Just one of the many Oxford, MS natives that you will probably hear us talk about in the future. Focusing on John Barret’s Bass Drum of Death, I’m sure the initial imagery points to a metal-manic face-painted macabre. While they do play heavy (and loud), BDoD is quite the contrary. I promised myself to refrain from referring to any music as shit-gaze, but they just fit in so well with bands that are coined as, er, with that term. John just sent over this new tune that is just as grainy but steps back from their usual avalanche pace (I swear October must be Ronettes appreciation month). Check for “Spare Room” to appear on their upcoming 7″ on brand new Nashville label, Baby Don’t (yeah, you see if you can google search it!). Also, they will be carrying a run of 50 cassettes for their upcoming tour with Lover!
