jeans wilder//sugar water

I was actually introduced to Jeans Wilder by another great blog No Conclusion, and I only remember this because the music really kicked my ears’ ass, if that makes sense. This band reminds me of why I fell in love lo-fi music in the first place. It reminds me of Bee Thousand and even though both of these artists are completely capable of recording crisp-orchestral high-quality recordings (especially these days) they choose lo-fi as the medium for their output of music. Much like a skilled painter choose to paint abstractly rather than staying within the conforms of traditional portraits. If you want to see these differences manifested check out “Gold Heart Moutaintop Queen Directory” by both Guided By Voices and Trail of Dead.  But I digress; Jeans Wilder has put out a full-length which has been discontinued, but they have a whole slew of releases coming including their most recent vinyl split with Jen Paul.  Jeans Wilder’s sound drifts between a hazy wasteland of noisy shoegaze and dollops of bouncy and simple pop. The only thing more I can say about this band is: I really hope that the song “Sugar Water” is an ode to the great scene in Men In Black.
