Just a reminder that everyone’s favorite Cleburne High Schoolers’ LP will soon hit the shelves. Fungi Girls debut LP, Seafaring Pyramids, is the same slice of carefree garage pop that we all have grown to love. Actually, the dudes have just put up the entire album for freeload. But that shit is just for yr ipod. How about checking out Play Pinball! Records where you can purchase a tangible music relic and get a rad T along the way.

On a roll with these Ronettes styled drum lines today. The latest from Austin’s Pure Ecstasy comes in the form of “DWLDWD”. Crying from the same reverbed cavern as his other remarkable tunes, Nate Grace and co. have created yet another awe striking moment. His latest release, Future Nostalgia, will be dropping soon via Leftist Nautical Antiques. Check out their new makeover and order the latest Pure Ecstasy jams. Props to Rose Quartz for the tip.

Within the first ten seconds of this song the unmistakable pit-er-pat drumming of Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Just Like Honey” is making me think that “Just Like Monday” was a typo. However, instead of following with a wall of noise, His Clancyness builds a wall of soothing beached melodies. This track isn’t set on any official tracklisting, but Jonathan is concocting a future release and hopes to see it on 7″ soon. I would expect to find this there, though. He has a sold out cassette on Secret Furry Hole, but you can find other tracks of his at few different stops.

An addition to the chill track I mentioned last week, Mississippi psych-gazer Dead Gaze has just sent over his latest video for “Back and Forth”. Getting their latest LP, End of Days, Why Not You?, is an easy three step process. 1) Send an email to rcfurlow@gmail.com, 2) Wait for him to send the tunes yr way and 3) Enjoy!

While I’m on things Wild Animal Kingdom, Dana has also sent over some new tracks from the upcoming Pill Wonder Jungle/Surf tape. Not only will this see release on WAK, but Underwater Peoples will be releasing this on 12″. These tracks are so humid, your living room will turn into a sauna. In about ten seconds. If you haven’t heard PW’s other jams, dude at Friendship Bracelet has what you need. The cassette pre-order is up and running. Sit tight for the vinyls.

Dana Jewell, at the throne of the Wild Animal Kingdom, has lit my inbox up with several shiny gems. First of all, “This Land pt. 3″, a new track forming a trilogy to Liam the Younger’s “This Land pts. 1&2″ which follows the same life on the run plain. As well as the Richman soaked “Love’s Bow/Arrow”. If you didn’t already know, WAK has an amazing cassette club which puts hot tracks on yr doorstep for 18 bucks a year. From what I’ve heard, they will be featuring some of our favorite artists (teaser). Stop by WAK to subscribe and check out some of their other releases. Also, Chocolate Bobka has those Liam the Younger albums up at his house in full along with a live recording of Dana at the Underwater Peoples Showcase.

What a great year in music it has been, all these lo-fi seedlings popping up all around us and making our lives better. With that said, I bring you Florida, not to be confused with those other Florida bands. This Florida incorporates a ghoulish brand of lo-fi pop akin to John Maus and Ariel Pink but not to a point where it becomes bland or insipid, moreso Florida took some of the same influences of David Bowie that John Maus and Ariel Pink did, in that way they are alike. Of course just when I think I’ve pinpointed the bands sound I hear a song full of psychotropic drone, appeasing the John Cale fan in me. This band has a great 7 inch out on Shdwply Records and I most certainly encourage you to purchase it.

Based on the rich history of great music in STL, you already know that Exercise is going to be good before you even listen, and then you do, and of course you are correct in your assumption. Their sound fairly divided in my view; one part of me latches on to the 90s math rock textures I extract, another part of me hears a bit of the great Built To Spill and yet another more contemporary bands like Animal Collective. Its safe to say the band is a myriad of different sounds, and whatever you may hear when listening to Exercise, one thing is for sure that its bound to be catchy and ear-pleasing. Another very cool thing about this band is the artwork for their newest full length, Grandma’s House, chek out the hi-res version. Enough out of me, go forth and listen to this band!

The Craters are the project of Wes and Jared out of Newton South, Mass. whom handcraft jangly cuts that practically manifest in themselves an early morning sunrise on a country cabin porch. I suppose you could place this band with the recent-flooding of bands into the “chillwave” genre though I always hesitate on placing bands into trite genre-labels. The raddled loops The Craters create are oscillating bits of gold that rarely adhere to a form song-to-song and hint at a much promising future for this band. The two songs below are very fresh-baked and are to be collected together on the new EP, Teenage High School, that the band is finishing up as we speak. Keep an ear out for this band and of course the great Cosby snippet at the end of “Weekends Or Not”.

I remember reading about this young lady a few weeks prior on Transparent, but was instantly reminded of how much I liked “Music Time” when I got it in my inbox today. At only 17 Dominique Young Unique has already been named top new artist in Florida and has been recording tracks in the Yo Majesty studio since the tender age of 12. If some spazzed out beats and an infectious hook are all you need for a classic banger, she’s got that shit on lock. Call it nerd-hop, hip-hop, whatever. All I know is that I can’t wait for her release to drop.
