I remember first finding out about Cave Singers a couple years ago when they opened for Black Mountain at Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton. Since then, I’ve played their album more than enough times to know these guys are legit and deserve more praise than they have received thus far. Ultimately shadowed by fellow Seattle band, Fleet Foxes, Pete Quirk and crew deliver a song that shows positive progression in their music. Folk twang with a rustic feel and a dampening of Quirk’s often too nasally voice from their previous effort, Cave Singers are poised for a great release. Only one sample of it so far, but Welcome Joy is a definite waiter on my list for an August 18th release. Out on Matador, track listing below.
Side 1.
Summer Light
Leap
At the Cut
Shrine
Hen of the Woods
Side 2.
Beach House
VV
I Don’t Mind
Townships
Bramble
