A recent recommendation from the Pasta Primavera guys, and it’s been on repeat all weekend. My Gold Mask are the duo of Gretta Rochella and Jack Armondo out of Chicago. People are quick to pull the Karen O (YYYs) and Alison Mosshart (The Kills) parallels. I get it, but I feel a stronger Ella Fitzgerald vibe from Rochella’s beautiful vibrato. Well, Fitzgerald that just mainlined reverb. Dark, dreamy soundscapes are bewitchingly painted as Armondo and Rochella are so complementary together. By the way, they are reaaaally cool and easy to contact! Get their latest LP on cassette or mp3 style.
