Spencer Krug has established himself as a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. In this case however, he is the master of all. Their newest tune, “Idiot Heart”, from their forthcoming Dragonslayer album is a great demonstration of not only his composition skills, but that the chemistry of Sunset Rubdown is a perfect formula. A long-winded six minutes of build, BAM(!), and a gentle letdown make “Idiot Heart” a beautiful mash up of synth, muzzled guitar, xylophone, and an unmistakable Krug like vocal delivery. I also can’t forget to mention the amazing vernacular of Krug and how he paints such lucid images with his words. “I hope you die in a decent pair of shoes, you’ve got a lot long walking to do”, WOW! Makes the wait for the new album a nail biter. Available for pre-order at Insound (release on 6/23 via Jagjaguwar). Wait! Pre-order the album today and you will get an mp3 version of the album e-mailed to you a month in advance.
